Living in Bavaria
I'm a great fan of the Oktoberfest in Munich. It's happening every year depending on if the first Sunday in October falls on the 1st or 2nd, then the festival will go on until October 3rd (German Unity Day). This means that the festival is 17 days when the 1st Sunday is October 2nd and 18 days when it is October 1st (why make it easier than that :-)) May favoured tent is the Kaefer, but its hard to get in on weekdays after 4p.m. and almost impossible on weekends all day. You must be there befor they open and queue up like they will sell something unique. Here are some numbers: # 12,000 people are employed at the Oktoberfest. Of these, 1600 are waitresses[Barmaids]. # There is seating available for 100,000 people. # The six Oktoberfest breweries, (Spaten, Augustiner, Paulaner, Hacker-Pschorr, Hofbräu, Löwenbräu) sold 6.1 million mugs of beer in 2006[5] (2005: 6.0 - 2004: 5.5 million). # Roasted oxen: 102[5] # Sausages: 438,884 # Roast chickens: 459,279 # 60% of visitors arrive by public transpor So as you can see, this is large! And really big money (+ for the owners and waitresses which have a realy tough job but get paid quite well and - for all the party people around spending fortunes drinking and eating, but it's worth it :-)) But at the end its kind of a unique experience. When friends from other countries come especially if you are there first time its like beeing in Epcot Center but its REAL! And you must be very careful drinking the 1 liter mugs, the beer on the Oktoberfest is less strong (in taste, nt in alcohol!) with less bubbles so the "clients" can drink more! If you want to get enrolled 100% go on the external links and inform yourself, the links are very helpful. Check the link "The crazy Oktoberfest" below, some really nice pics and sexy bavarian ladies!!
